My Favorite Mom Planners

I tend to like 18 month planners the best. I can see further out. I also like space to write. I LOVE felt tip markers. I use one color for each person in the family. There are lots of ways to keep your planner organized. I have all different size post it notes as well as planner stickers to help me remember things. I am a person who must write things down. I know a ton of friends who use their phones to keep track of things which is awesome because you can add it to your computer and/or ipad. I just get satisfaction out of writing it down and crossing it off! That’s just one of my favorite things to help me stay organized.

Daily Book of Quotes or Uplifting thoughts

If you know me, you know I love all things inspirational! My home is filled with quotes that strengthen and uplift me. I have lots of quote books, books of poems, etc but my favorite still has to be a book published in the mid-nineties written by Sarah Ban Breathnach called “Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy.” I keep it by by bed and kind of like reading the scriptures, I gain new insights every time I read it. This does not take the place of my scripture study but just adds a little more thought and often appreciation to each day. This is one of my favorite things to keep me grounded.

Home Scents

After Christmas I am done for a while with the baking, cinnamon scents for a while.  I love FRESH!  I also love DW Home Candles. I like the scents, the rate they burn and how long they last. My signature scents is their Wild Honey Nectar so you can find that burning year round but my favorite fresh scents for this month are Lemongrass and Basil and the Lavender Herb blend. So fresh smelling! Wonderful smells are undoubtedly one of my favorite things, hands down and these candle scents are amazing!

Cleaning Spray

What is it about January that makes us want to start fresh and new and CLEAN? I am all about my home being clean and smelling good! I discovered this new Caldrea Countertop Spray but it also works great on my glass table and stainless appliances! My favorite scent is Basil Blue Sage but they ALL smell delightful and fresh. I love that I recently discovered this as one of my favorite things!

I will admit that I am not a huge exerciser! I love a daily walk and when I do find an exercise program I enjoy, it has to be something that is easy to do and I can do in a short amount of time. I have followed Chalene Johnson for years with her Beachbody programs. This new one is awesome and requires no equipment but your body! I have realized over the years that the better shape I am in, the more energy I have. Chalene makes exercise fun and FUN is definitely one of my favorite things!

Now-many of you already have this. Our daughter and son- in -law sent it to us for Christmas. We have LOVED it. I do love music on consistently as I feel it can really contribute in a positive way to the spirit in your home.  The new thing I discovered that I REALLY LOVE is that if you go to the app, slide down to skills, you can type in LDS and a ton of amazing things come up. There is a great app that you can choose to read the Book of Mormon in a year so while the family is eating breakfast and you are finishing making it, you can have The Book of Mormon read to you and read it in a year. The same things goes for General Conference talks. This makes busy Mom mornings so much easier!!!! And it is very reasonably priced! Definitely one of my favorite things!

My feet are always cold! I love comfortable, soft, squishy, warm socks. These are THE BEST socks I have ever worn. They are aloe infused as well! I find too, that if I wear socks it also keeps my feet soft in the dry winter. It isa given that this would be a favorite!

Favorite Book

Mysteries and Historical Fiction are my favorite genres and our daughter nailed it this year with The Nightingale as a Christmas gift! I could not put it down and had it read in 2.5 days! Needless to say I did not get much else done! It is set in France in WW II. The author seemed to hit on every single difficulty of war. It was heart wrenching in parts, to see what families experienced and how it changed them forever. Guaranteed it will become a favorite book!

Favorite Warm Meal

Instant Pot Mac n’ Cheese! The whole family loves this! It is a hit as a meal and as leftovers the next day. This is a major comfort food and warm on a a cold January day. See all my Instant Pot Recipe Posts for more fast and easy dinner ideas!

Organizing Help

The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up really is a life changer! This will motivate you to dig deeper and find more to get rid of. I am a saver. So is my husband. This is new to us but the art of “getting rid” has and is changing our lives. It will take us years because it has taken us years to collect but it is proving to make life much easier in so many ways!

My sister has these Rubbermaid Containers for the Fridge and Freezer in her fridge and it always looks organized so I have ordered some for myself! “A place for everything and everything in it’s place” is the old saying. It is true. When things have a home-they tend to stay more organized.

This is my list of favorite things for January! Have you thought about yours? I would love to hear your ideas!
